Muzzle Loading Rifle

Muzzle loading Rifle

Muzzle loading Rifle is shot the second Sunday of every month, rain, snow, sleet or hail from our covered 25 & 50 yard pistol range.

The match starts at 1:00 PM. Be there at noon to get signed up, set up and shoot a few practice shots.  Eye and ear protection are required.

We typically shoot ten targets at a mix of 25 and 50 yards. Come with enough supplies to shoot at least 40 shots. Targets are a mix of novelty and bulls-eye with varying degrees of difficulty. All shooting is done offhand. You will see all makes and calibers of rifle on the line and shooters of every skill level.

This is a great place to learn how to shoot or get back into the game if you have been out for a while. The pace is relaxed and there are a lot of knowledgeable shooters that can get you started off right. It is a lot of fun.

Most of us have a muzzleloader in the closet that only comes out for deer season. Come out to a shoot and remind yourself how much fun it is to shoot. We’ll even let you shoot your inline against the “old” guns if you haven’t been to our shoot for a while. One chance to see how your inline with a scope can do against a flintlock or percussion rifle with open sights. You might be surprised.

Prizes are paid for every target and are usually in the form of groceries. We shoot for glory, beans and peaches or maybe a pack of crackers as the consolation prize. There is an annual turkey shoot in November, a meat shoot in spring and chicken shoot in February. No chickens or turkeys are harmed during the shoots. Muzzleloading is one of the least expensive of the shooting sports.
