Steel Plate Shooting

Steel Plate Shooting

The Miami Rifle and Pistol Club offers Steel Plate shooting throughout the year at multiple times each month. Saturday Steel occurs on the second Saturday of every month. Wednesday Morning Steel occurs on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Wednesday Evening Steel occurs on the fourth Wednesday of the month starting in May and ending in September. All matches are open to the public.

Steel Plate shooting at MRPC is an event for all skill levels from novice to expert. If you are looking for an entry level shooting competition, Steel Plate Shooting at MRPC is ideal. There are 15 classes ranging from .22 handgun to Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC)

Click here for a list of classes and which matches allow them.

Note the Single Action class requires a minimum of two guns. A minimum of four magazines are required for semi-automatic pistols and a minimum of 4 speed loaders are required for revolvers – six of either is optimum and more is always better. Many participants will shoot in multiple classes at any given match. Each stage is a timed event. A miss results in a three second penalty and a procedural results in a ten second penalty.

Entry fee is $5 per class for all matches. Payouts are awarded based on Lewis Class. MRPC is a volunteer organization. Assistance with setup, teardown, keeping score, serving as a Range Safety Officer and any other assistance helps the matches run smoother, safer and faster.

Safety is the hallmark of MRPC. Eye and ear protection are required for all participants and spectators at all Steel Plate matches. MRPC is a cold range – personal carry of loaded firearms is NOT permitted anywhere on club property. There is no handling of firearms at any Steel Match at any time until directed by the Match Director or the Range Safety Officer. Only competitors engaged in a course of fire under the direction of a Range Safety Officer may have a loaded firearm. Spectators are welcome at all Steel Plate matches and must abide by the same safety rules as competitors.

Saturday Steel

Saturday Steel matches start promptly at 11:00 am after the safety briefing **All new shooters MUST attend the safety briefing**. Set up starts at 9:00 am, sign-ups begin at 10:00 am, and registration closes at noon. A typical match will include 4 stages. Stage 1 will be shot 3 times.
